ScanningMenu ("ScanningMenu," "we," "us") is operated by Cortazzo Consulting. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ScanningMenu you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
| Account | Your email and name when you sign up (or via Google sign-in). |
| Profile & preferences | Goal, optional body metrics, dietary preferences, and allergies you enter to personalize recommendations. |
| Menu scans & photos | Photos of menus or plates you submit, and the items extracted from them. |
| Food journal | Meals and foods you log, including text or voice descriptions you provide. |
| Orders & feedback | Dishes you mark as ordered, ratings, and likes that improve your recommendations. |
| Location | Only with your permission, to show nearby restaurants. You can decline and still use the app. |
| Usage & device | App events and basic device/diagnostic data for reliability, plus push-notification tokens if you opt in. |
| Social (optional) | If you opt in: a public profile, posts, follows, and messages. |
How we use it
- To read menus, estimate nutrition, and recommend your best order for your goal and allergies.
- To power your food journal and personalize future suggestions.
- To run your account, process payments, and provide support.
- To keep the service safe, reliable, and to improve it.
- To send account and receipt emails, and — only if you opt in — tips, recaps, social, and reminder notifications.
Service providers we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share what's necessary with processors who run the service on our behalf:
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage, and hosting. |
| Anthropic (Claude) | AI processing of menu/plate images and food text to extract items and estimate nutrition. Not used to train third-party models. |
| Stripe | Payments and subscriptions. We never store full card numbers. |
| Resend | Transactional and opt-in emails. |
| Mapbox | Maps in Discover. |
| Optional Google sign-in, and live restaurant details/reviews. Reviews and photos are fetched live and not stored by us; only a place identifier may be retained. |
Your choices & rights
- Access & export: request a copy of your data from Settings.
- Delete: delete your account from Settings to remove your profile, journal, orders, and history.
- Permissions: camera, location, and notifications are all optional and controlled by you.
- Email: marketing emails are opt-in with one-tap unsubscribe; account/receipt emails are required for service.
- Public profile: off by default; you choose what, if anything, is public.
Analytics & cookies
We use first-party analytics to understand reliability and product usage. Where we use any third-party measurement, we honor your consent choices. We use only the storage necessary to keep you signed in and the app working.
Security & retention
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit and access controls. We keep data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymize it.
Children
ScanningMenu is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
